Great Sewing Machine for Beginners
I love this sewing machine for its reliable performance and reasonable price point. As a long-time user of Brother machines, I knew I was making a good choice with this one. It comes with all the essential components needed for beginners to learn how to sew, making it perfect for someone starting out. One minor drawback for me is the narrow distance between the "head" and the threading area, which can make tasks like changing the needle a bit awkward, especially for someone with average-sized hands like myself. Despite this, the machine effectively gets the job done. As someone who owns multiple machines across two homes for my alterations business, I appreciate the functionality this machine offers. However, a bit more space would make it even more perfect for my needs. Highly recommend for beginners looking for a reliable and affordable sewing machine.

Brother
I have been using this sewing machine weekly in a sewing group. It has been very dependable, easy to transport back and forth, easy to use, variety of stitches and has paid for itself over time. I use this machine making a variety of quilting projects and I haven't encountered any problems with threading, tension, and heavy usage. The accessories that come with the machine are adequate for most sewing, but I did have to order a 1/4" foot to use for quilting. I would recommend this machine for any sewer as a take along or beginner machine.

Easy learning curve for a multi-function domestic sewing machine
I recently decided to revisit my old hobby of sewing. I had a perfectly okay Brother sewing machine but the more I was using it, the more I became conscious of the many functions that newer sewing machines have that mine definitely didn’t. Some of the features that I won’t be willing to do without that this machine has include snap-on/snap-off presser feet, making a switch from one stitch type to another a matter of seconds rather than minutes; a drop-in bobbin that removes the need to fiddle with the upper thread/needle to pull up the bobbin thread before starting to sew as well as virtually ending the common problem of the bobbin thread snagging inside the machine; a library of stitches that come pre-programmed with optimal stitch length and width… selecting a stitch always starts with the preferred default values every time you select it; a better design for the the upper thread loading. They have somehow designed the unit so that the thread will automatically find itself on the correct side of the path being threaded instead of, as my older machine needed, requiring me to fiddle with flywheel on the right of the machine to get the different parts in the correct orientation to pass the thread around the parts correctly.; a built-in overstitch stitch for fray-prone fabrics; and lastly, the option to either use the foot peddle to control the speed of the stitches or choose to use the programmable stitch speed control for those of us who find their excitement, anxiety, or simple lack of patience leading to what feels like a high-speed chase where your current stitches are the barely in control car careening around the mountainous ess-curves, inches away from flying off into the valley below. This machine is well made, well designed, and wonderfully lightweight. I think it is a great starter machine for those wanting to learn the skills and tricks of sewing.

Terrific Machine!
This Brother is a wonderful, sturdy, well made heavy duty sewing machine. It’s straightforward to use, comes with an excellent manual (YouTube has lots of videos of this sewing machine, too!), a terrific assortment of extras (including a free motion foot), and it’s nice and quiet, too, which is great for those of us who sew in the middle of the night! I am so pleased with this purchase 😄; I’m actually sewing more than ever because this machine is a real joy to use!

One negative that’s important to know….
This machine sews well. Since I’ve had other brother machines before I knew what I was getting when I bought this last one. The price is reasonable and would recommend for someone starting out. Has all the components necessary to learn to sew. However for me the distance between the “head” and where you thread the machine is too narrow. Just changing the needle is awkward…just not enough space (and I don’t have extra large hands!). I’ve 4 machines in my lifetime and now own 2 homes and require 2 machine to operate my alterations business. This machine does the job but I need more space!

Perfect for Quilting
Sees very well. Its extremely easy to thread because of the assisted threader. The bobbin is easy to access and put in. Comes with great sewing feet and its light. I do wish it had a handle that flipped up.

Sews so smooth.
This sewing machine sews so smooth. The sound very low. Easy threading, the bobbin was easy, and it even has a threader on it. You can sew by pushing a button or foot pedal. If you choose the button and you're a beginner, don't panic. There is a slow speed. Also wanted to mention that I was so surprised at everything. I needed a new one for quite a while and decided on this one. Best choice for me. I did receive it yesterday. For what I've done so far I am very pleased.

Good machine
We had an almost identical model which finally died after more than twenty years. For a relatively inexpensive machine it has worked very well for us.
